This pathway is suitable for parents who wish to retire in New Zealand without relying on family sponsorship for long-term financial support.

Minimum Requirements

Relationship: Have an adult child (18+) who is a New Zealand citizen or resident living in NewZealand

No Dependents: Have no dependent children

Sufficient Funds: Meet the investment, settlement fund, and income requirements

Health and Character Requirements: They must meet health and character requirements by completing a medical examination and submitting a medical certificate.

Financial requirements

To qualify, you must demonstrate:

NZD $1 million available to invest in New Zealand for 4 years

NZD $500,000 available as settlement funds

Annual income of at least NZD $60,000

Ability to transfer funds to New Zealand through the formal banking system

These funds must be unencumbered (not borrowed) and supported by clear source-of-funds evidence.

Investment requirements
